About Tyler Mantz
BIOGRAPHY
Welcome! I'm Tyler, a recent graduate of the Pennsylvania State University. I spent senior year as a student photographer for Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics. I photographed athletic events and production days for galleries and social media content. My time at The Daily Collegian gave me the necessary skills to work in the industry. This role focused on AP-style photojournalism through the documentation of local news and sports. Additionally, I oversaw the publication of photographs in their weekly print edition.
I was a 2024 Golden Quill Award finalist for Student Excellence in Sports Photography through the Press Club of Western Pennsylvania. I also attended the NCAA Photos workshop at the 2025 Men's Final Four in San Antonio.
I use photography to capture both the action and raw emotion of sports. My journey behind the camera started with a love for motorsports. In 2019, my Dad inspired me to take a camera to the IMSA race at Watkins Glen. I found my passion, and the rest is history. I experiment with shutter speeds and motion blur to change the dynamic of photographs. The technique challenges me to view photography from a different perspective.
